Remington MB4700 Smart Beard Trimmer features some of the futuristic and high technology in beard trimmer at a price of below $80. It features a fully digital touch screen, previous cut memory setting, motorized comb for adjusting hair length setting and auto-sensing to match beard thickness with cutting speed.

1. Attachment and Accessories

The package also comes with a charging adapter with a USB charging cable and a cleaning brush to clean the blades from cut hairs. There are no other accessories provided as you have all the things you need for your beard trimming. The size of the Remington MB4700 Smart Beard Trimmer is 7 inches by 2 inches. Comparing with other beard trimmers, the size for this trimmer is a bit bulkier and heavier than other beard trimmers.

It will take three to four trimming sessions to adjust and familiarize myself with the size and weight while maneuvering the trimmer. Once you have used it for two or three weeks, the size and weight might not be too dominant to compensate for a great shaving experience. Unlike other beard trimmer models, you are provided with too many guards of different lengths, so for some people, it is tough to get organized and require a lot of space to store all the guards.

One drawback is that the guard piece is made of fragile and thin plastic. I haven’t had any problems with it yet, but I could imagine it shattering if I dropped it or anything. I wish the beard guard were made of metal or strong plastic.

3. Adjusting Beard Cutting Length

You can adjust Remington MB4700 Smart Beard Trimmer hair setting from 0.4 mm to 18 mm with 0.1 increments in between. The trimmer guard is attached to the side of the trimmer, which can go up and down with motorize control while the cutting unit will stay static at its place.

The display will display the current length setting, and you can push the “UP” or “DOWN” button to adjust the setting you wish. 4. Cutting Blades

The cutting blades are made of stainless steel and coated with titanium coating for even longer corrosion resistance. The blades are self-sharpening and need to be oiled with cleaning lubricant or light viscosity maintenance oil once every two or three months. The manufacturer recommends changing the blade every 18 to 24 months according to your trimming frequency.

The blade width is 31.5 mm, and it cuts perfectly for the beard, but I am having a problem trimming precisely around the edges of my nose and mouth due to the wide blade. It will be perfect if the trimmer has one smaller blade for precision trimming purposes.

The blades are removable by pushing the blade upward for cleaning with the provided cleaning brush. Removing the blades are relatively easy for me, but I have a problem getting the blades back on for the first time. After several tries, I successfully put it back on, and it works OK. Make sure to put it the right way or not; the blades will not cut when the trimmer is ON.

The sound can be pretty loud if I shove the blade into the thick beard, as it will rev up drastically to match the blade speed with the beard thickness. The best way is to trim the thin and short beard slowly into a thicker beard bit by bit.

The blades are sharp and cut nicely with minimal hair pulling out. As I have mentioned before, sometimes the trimmer guard gets stuck and trapped inside the beard, but it works great. I just need to slowly slide the trimmer across the beard so that it does not get trapped.
