1. Attachment and Accessories

2. Beard Trimmer Guard

You will get one unit of trimming guard for this beard trimmer. The trimming guard is not adjustable, while the blades are adjustable for 10 hair length settings. The material for the trimming guard is high-quality plastic that is durable and very light. The trimming guard needs to be fixed on the blades before you can trim your beard. You can easily slide the trimming guard until it snaps into the position, and if you want to take it off for cleaning, just pull it upward. The trimmer also can be used without the trimming guard to achieve a 0.5 mm cutting setting. It is perfect for trimming the sideburns and mustache.

3. Cutting System

The cutting elements or dual-blades are made of stainless steel, and the width is 32 mm. The blades are self-sharpening as they brush each other during trimming, thus keeping them always sharp, and no oil is needed. As shown below, blades have rounded tips, not pointed tips, to protect your skin from irritation.

You may wash the blades under running water to keep them clean. Please be noted that Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 is not waterproof. Thus it requires you to remove the cutting blades from the main trimmer body for cleaning purposes. Then put the cutting elements under running water to clean it and wash off any hair. Follow the cleaning instructions below on how to remove the cutting parts from the main body.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000

After washing with water, let the cutting elements completely dry before you put them back to the main trimmer body, as shown in the image above.

4. Philips Lift & Trim Technology

Lift and trim is the concept applied on trimming guard where the base of it is designed to scoop flat-lying hair and make it easy to trim, thus not skipping any hair during trimming.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000

This technology will help you trim the beard evenly for the first time, thus saving you a lot of time. Trimming beard can sometimes be difficult due to the random hair growth direction, making the trimming not even, so you need to trim it multiple times to ensure everything is adequately trimmed. The lift and trim will help segregate any hair in any direction into the blades, thus giving perfect and even trimming.

5. Hair Length Setting

There is a zoom wheel for hair length setting for the trimmer starting from 0.5mm to 10 mm with 1 mm precision. Slide to the right to decrease the length and slide to the left to increase the hair length.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000

Try trimming your beard slowly to get used to the beard trimmer. For those using this trimmer for the first time, make sure to slide the zoom wheel to the most left for the 10 mm hair length setting. Then gradually decrease the hair length setting until you get what you desired. Place the trimmer gently on your face and try a different position to see how it goes. You can go upwards, downwards or across and optimally against the hair growth direction. Please bear in mind to always make sure the trimmer guard is maintained contact with the skin for even trimming.

6. Battery

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 features a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that can last up to 90 minutes for a 10-hour charge. On average, we take less than 5 minutes to trim a 3-day stubble beard so that it can last at least 18 trimming sessions for 50 days. The trimmer comes with a smart wall socket compatible with voltages ranging from 100 t0 240 volts. However, you might need a travel adapter if you travel outside the United States.

In terms of battery capacity, this trimmer has one of the best batteries compared to another cordless trimmer in the market. The manufacturer recommends charging the trimmer fully for 10 hours before you use it for the first time.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000

The battery indicator on the handle will flash green while charging, and when the battery is fully charged, the indicator will continuously light up green without blinking. When the battery is low, the light will flash red.

1. Ratings

Philips Norelco MG3750 Multigroom has a staggering of over 67,000 ratings, with almost 50,000 5-star ratings. This multi-groom trimmer from Philips Norelco was released in 2016 and has become the favorite device for beard trimmers and face multi-grooming. Suprent BT355BX Beard Trimmer is in second place with over 7,000 ratings, then Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 with over 2,000 ratings, followed by Remington MB6850 Beard Trimmer with 1,800 ratings on Amazon.

2. Waterproof

All trimmer models above are not waterproof, so it is critical to make sure to keep the trimmer dry all the time for safe use. The blades and trimmer guards can be washed under running water for proper cleaning, and always make sure they are entirely dry before use.

3. Vacuum Function

Vacuum is a unique feature that has become common in trimmer and shaver to capture cut hairs to minimize mess after a trimming session.  The vacuum will suck the cut hairs into the vacuum chamber, and you need to empty it after a particular time. The vacuum can help you to save time cleaning the bathroom after trimming your beard. Out of all the beard trimmer models we compared above, only Remington MB6850 Beard Trimmer has vacuum features.

4. Trimming Length

For those who love to trim long beards, you may want to consider Philips Norelco MG3750 Multigroom or Remington MB6850 Beard Trimmer as they provide a much longer trimmer hair length setting up to 16 and 18 mm. On the other hand, Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 and Suprent BT355BX Beard Trimmer can only provide up to 10 mm and 9 mm trimming lengths. It is perfect for those who like to keep the beard a bit shorter and tidier.

5. Battery

All models come with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that you can use cordlessly from 60 to 90 minutes. You need to know that Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 takes about 8 hours to fully charge compared to the other models above, which take around only 1 or 2 hours. This is due to the battery capacity and efficiency difference, but you can always charge the Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 before you go to bed. The trimmer will be fully charged after you wake up in the morning, and you can trim your beard without any problem.

If you forgot to charge your beard trimmer, all you need to do is connect the charger, and you are good to go. You can operate all models above while charging, so it will save you time rather than waiting for it to charge. However, it is to avoid using it in the bathroom and around the water while charging due to safety concerns caused by electrocution.

6. Compatible Voltage

You can charge all models compared above with 100-240V, and you may need an additional travel adapter if you travel to certain countries like Europe or Asia.

7. Warranty

Warranty is one of the significant factors for me to consider buying any electronics, so it is essential to get a reasonable warranty period for peace of mind. Beard trimmers commonly have problems with the battery not charging issue; thus, it is good to have an extended warranty. Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 3000 and Philips Norelco MG3750 Multigroom come with 2 years warranty, while Suprent BT355BX Beard Trimmer comes with a 1-year warranty. Remington MB6850 Beard Trimmer is the best in warranty as the manufacturer gives you a 3-year warranty for all parts of the beard trimmer.

8. Price

All the beard trimmers I compared above are priced under $30, so I hope this comparison can give you some guidance for buying the best beard trimmer for you.
